Tartars

This is the name that Russians often give to the Mongol invaders, led by the descendants of Genghis Khan, who swept over the Russian state in the thirteenth century and held it under their oriental yoke for many generations. The story of this tragic conquest is told in 'The Tartar' chapter of RUSSKA.
