The Dakota

The famous building where John Lennon lived and was tragically killed, appears in several chapters of New York. The true story of its construction and how it got its name - the tale that it was so-called because it was 'out in the wilderness' is an urban myth - is given in the 'Snow' chapter of the book.

The award for shortest reign in history goes to…Louis-Antoine Duke of Angoulême of France !
