Tower Of London

The Tower makes many appearances in LONDON. It had a sister tower in Colchester, and was built on the site of a Roman fort. An account of its political purpose, the details of its constrution, and its secret passages, is given in the 'Tower' chapter of LONDON.




 

 

 

Did You Know?
The first motorist to be fined for speeding in the UK was Walter Arnold in 1896. He was driving 8 miles per hour. At the time the speed limit for motor vehicles was 2 miles per hour!
