Swift

Jonathan Swift, Dean of St Patricks, was a much-loved figure in eighteenth century Ireland, and a friend of Doctor Sheridan, grandfather of the famous playwright. Both men are depicted in the 'Ascendancy' chapter of Rutherfurd's second Irish book, where there is also some surprising information about Swift's use of Irish words in GULLIVER'S TRAVELS.
