Master

The Masters are a fictional family in Rutherfurd's New York. In the first chapter, they arrive in Boston as Puritans from England, but a younger son, after a family dispute, moves first to Long Island and then to Manhattan, where the Masters intermarry with the Van Dycks. The novel traces this family's fortunes to the present day.
